Detroit, MI
The boys returned to OLL to support KQ's album release and were joined by Buckshot98. The band debuted 4 new songs and a different version of Sacrificial Lamb. This was a "...a little shy," but a bold and interesting performance despite the bumps in the road.

The band played a very light and loose 45 minute set after the Flying Cardboard Theater, and before Hayley and The Crushers, Carjack, and the Detroit Party Marching Band. Drew returned for this show to cover on drums. One for the books. Lots of big swings.
Drums: Drew Czjaka / Guitar: Connor Mehren / Bass: Steve Dunning / Guitar+Vox: John Shaughnessy
10/26/24 at Roseboom Recording
Chicago, MI
The band went to Chicago and returned to Roseboom Recording to play with Universal Automation, Hannah Laine, and Dogcatcher as the Flying Burrito Brothers. They played a tight set to a welcoming crowd; people wanted to talk gear, the boys were dressed as monks, and Jesus returned to audiblly scream during the set.

The band closed out a special night of live music with friends from Andrea Dorea, Benna from Kzoo and local hero Danny Van Zandt. John passed out at the end of the show. Probably was a pretty scary set - but we will never know for the recording was lost. Might be for the best.

This was a pretty lean night for the QCB replete with clams and technical difficulties. Some pretty cool feedbacky stuff going on in this one though.

The band played a mean and lean set this night following up Jake Aho's premeire of Commonwealth. Cusp from Chicago threw down and there may or may not have been a dispute over the ettiquette of smoking cigs outside during a show. Who's to say?

5/4/24 & 5/5/24 : Spring Weekender
Kalamazoo, MI & Chicago, IL
Vic, Connor, Steve and John packed Connor's car full of gear and added a 1980s cream and brown colored cargo box to the roof rack this time. After a decently long and traffic heavy trip to Kzoo the boys played a tight set at the Lunchbox in Kalamzoo - located in the back of a lash/brow/tatoo studio (@alleykatstudios). John talked way too much at that show.
The group then hightailed it out to Chicago to be greeted by Ryan who runs a DIY space out of their two car garage. Ryan was an accomodating host and the local musicians packed the garage. It rained like hell and the band played a pretty psychadelic set. This was the first time the group played without any setlist. John didn't speak at all at this show until the end.

4/10/24 at WCBN 88.3FM

Vic, Connor, Steve and John packed Connor's car full of gear and drove to Ann Arbor to play on WCBN. A very solid run through over all. Rained like hell on the way back home from the set.

Vic, Connor, Steve and John played concise but relaxed set - they debuted two new songs; "Spent" and "God's Creature."

3/1/24 at Outer Limits

Vic, Connor, Steve and John played a pretty loose set here. Opened with some random jams and a slow version of Secret Garden. Probably the last time any album cuts were played.

This was the band's first show with Victor on drums. The played a brief 20 minute set cut short by MGMT - but those who caught it say the energy was tight. The Nude Boys went off that night.

2nd night in a row. A family affair. Monsoon and Scaffolding ripped it up (very confrontational). Very soft set from the boys this night. Anna's Grandmother and family came out. It was wholesome. This was Brendan's last show with QCB.

The band took a weekend trip to the Windy City to contemplate Wilco and hang out with some old friends. Hera Jackson threw down in Sophie's band. Tessa O' Connell's set made John cry. Their AirBnB was disgustingly hot, they had to unplug the fridge to run the AC in order to not blow the circuit breaker. This was the band's first time playing "Dust2" which was practiced once in the AirBnB before the show.

Day 3 of the QCB Summer 2023 Tour. Most definitely the loosest and most lively set of the tour. The boys opened up with a psychedelic jam in D#Maj and let a fast version of Secret Garden rip later in the set. This was Dylan Fox's last show with QCB.

Day 2 of the QCB Summer 2023 Tour. The show was nearly cancelled due to poor air quality caused by Canadian wildfires. Very mellow night for the boys. John, Victor and Connor had to take the subway with all the gear - which included a Fender Twin Reverb, Fender Blues, Junior, 2 guitars and Pedalboards. Connor broke a tube on the way. John told everyone that they were "all going to die tonight..." by accident during Billy Wants.

The band's first show on the QCB 2024 Summer Tour. The band+crew drove out the previous day through some of the strangest weather conditions imaginable - wildfires in Canada had smoked out the city mere hours before the band landed. This was QCB's first out of town gig and was the most measured and level headed show of the tour. This was Dylan Fox's first show with QCB.

The boys played a straight and narrow set this night. This was the first time they played Billy Wants and a song that disappeared entirely from future sets, Slipper. This was Drew Czajka's last show with QCB.

This was a real ripper if I remember correctly. This set is loaded with the most "album" cuts out of any QCB set from this area. This was Baptiste Joilland's last show with QCB. Jimmy threw down on the 1s and 2s.

The boys played on home turf and delivered a 90 minute set complete with bathroom breaks, beer breaks, and a guest guitar appearance from Joey Hannania. James had a wild A/V setup. It snowed that night. Many would consider this to be a highwater mark for this configuration of the band.

This was sort of a weird one. This is Steve Dunning's first show with the band and the only show featuring Steve on keys. It was incredibly loud that night. This is the largest the band had ever been at that point. This was Craig Garwood's last show with QCB.

Insanely loose set. Impromptu Breathe by Pink Floyd Cover, plust a guest appearance / jam from some woman in the audience. Pretty much an empty bar in this one but was probably one of the most fun show the boys ever played.

A great night for DIY. The boys, James, Alex, Tim Crim, all through together a last minute "stage" setup in the alleyway / parking lot behind Joy Thrift off Jos. Campau. Victor opened with a rap set and Tyriq performed inside. One for the books.

This was Connor's first show with QCB. Connor started the QCB "Shoes off" tradition at this show. The band played in the alleyway at dusk. The sound was great and the set started and ended real spacey.

7/17/22 at Craigen's Apartment
Hamtramck, MI
This was a DIY show setup in Craigen's Apartment. At one time this was John's apartment. This was the first time John played electric. The energy of this show sort of dictated the direction of band for the years to follow and I would consider it to be the first real Quality Cinema Band performance. Craig delivered some killer vocal harmonies and an all timer solo acoustic set by the campfire later that night.

This was technically the first Quality Cinema Band show. John was invited to play this and decided a few weeks before to add Baptiste on trombone to accompany an acoustic set, then decided to ask Drew and Craig to join to form a full band. Suffice to say the set was extremely measured - some might even say tepid albeit tight. Definetly "a little shy," as Baptiste would say in those days. You have to start somewhere I guess.
